END OF AN ERA: BENTLEY RETIRES W12 ENGINE

Bentley Motors is bidding farewell to the Iconic W12 Engine. The W12 Engine has been in production for over 20 years since its introduction in 2003, the company has decided to stop the production of the 12 Engine cylinder to focus on the production of Electric Car Models.

The W12 has been the foundation upon which the success of the Bentley Company has been built upon over these years. However the time has come for the company to retire the iconic powertrain as the  company stride towards Electric Car Production.

The Journey towards Electrification started with the introduction of the Bentayga and Flying Spur Model, whose demands has exceeded the Company's expectations following their introduction.

The W12 Production line will be repurposed to expand the production of the existing twin-turbo 4.0 liter V8 and 3.0 Liter V6 hybrid powertrains. Bentley has also announced that they would   retrain and redeploy all 30 of the skilled craftpeople that hand-assemble all the produced W12 Engines at Crewe

Bentley in previous years had already announced that as part of their plans to sell only Electric Vehicles, all its entire model would comprise of only plug-in hybrid vehicles(PHEV) by the year 2026. This means that only V6 and V8 powered vehicles would be available after April 2024.
