Toyota Motor has recalled over 50,000 Prius Cars and suspended the production of newer
ones. The affected Models are the 2023 and 2024. The reason for this recall is as a result of a problem with the rear door. The Recalled Cars were manufactured between November 2022 and April 2024. Although no accident has been recorded, but the recall was made after a discovery was made that there exist a glitch in the Prius Car.
According to the Automaker, water can get into the electronic rear door latches, potentially causing a short circuit. If the doors aren't looked, they could then come open unexpectedly, either while the vehicle is in motion or in a crash.
Although Toyota has not fixed this issue yet, they have released an official statement that all owners of the Prius Cars should ensure that they keep the automatic lock feature of the Car on at all times until the recall is scheduled.
